Halloween Celebration- Second grade

This Friday October 30 we will be having our school Halloween celebration. Students can come in their costumes. As stated on the schools blog , any costumes accessories that promote violence are to stay at home. Please send in $3 for pizza. Students also need a bag of candy to give out to the little ones and candy to share with classmates. Also see below what else to bring for the party.

REMINDERS

1.. HOMEWORK SCHEDULE is as follow;

2. VOCABULARY WORDS will be given and written during class time.

3. EXTENDED DAY: Fourth grade will stay on Tuesday for math and Thursday for ELA. Third grade will on Tuesday for ELA and  on Wednesday for math

4. QUIZ: This week students will be taking quizzes in social studies and reading  as follow:
Tuesday October 27- social studies
Thursday October 29- reading

5. Tuesday October 20 social studies quiz is going home on Monday. It is to be signed and return back to school. If your child never returned the previous quiz, they will not be receiving this or any upcoming quiz to take home.

REMINDERS FOR TOMORROW FRIDAY OCTOBER 23

1. Individual Picture day- Students may dress up, no jeans no sneakers.

2. Reading quiz from last week went home today. We went over the correct answers in class. (except for second grade and they will do this tomorrow). So just sign and send back. If your child did not receive a quiz today is because they did not return the quiz from the week before last.

3. The Scholastic book fair will not be taking place at school this year. The students have the opportunity to order scholastic book from the catalog that went home this week. I will place the order next Thursday October 29. If interested in purchasing books for your child, send the order form and the correct amount due.

HISPANIC HERITAGE

Tomorrow is the Hispanic Heritage Presentations. Second, third and fourth graders will each have a poster board with their individual projects attached. I will get the board, students just need to make sure they have completed their individual sheets.


2nd grade: Hispanic Heritage sheet with pictures

4th grade: Hispanic Country.


ALSO- map of the month for third and fourth grade is due tomorrow.

8. ACHIEVE 3000 assignments are posted on the post before this one, Check It out! Assignments that  students began in class must be finished at home.

9. Quizzes from last week are being sent home. Students must make corrections on looseleaf and attach to quiz. The quiz must be signed by a parent and return by Thursday. If this is not received back with corrections and signed by a parents, future quizzes will not be sent home.

10. Hispanic Heritage celebration will be on Wednesday October 14 in the lunchroom.

-Reread pages 12-14 from the Iroquois Confederacy book and complete the 4 square graphic organizer.

ACHIEVE 3000 ASSIGNMENT AND HISPANIC HERITAGE PROJECT


THE THIRD AND FOURTH graders will complete the sheet they received on Friday . Third grade is working on important Hispanic People, while fourth grade is working on Hispanic country.
Below are the links that say your child's name and the topic of their project

SECOND GRADE will work on completing a "My Family Heritage" project. Students will work on this at school on Tuesday, but in order to do so, they need some information from you.

Need to know:
1. parents name (actual names)
2. Grandparents (maternal and paternal)
3.What country your ancestors came from?
4. What country your parents were from? (the second graders parents)
5.What languages does your family speak?
6.What holidays does your family celebrate?
7.What is one tradition your family has?
8. What is one thing you like to do with your family?
9. They need a picture of just the student. Spot for the individual picture is 2 x 2 inches
10.They need a picture of their family. ( this could be the immediate family/just the people they live with or whole family- your choice). Spot for the family picture is 2 x 4 inches (h x w)

*They will be writing this information on a paper that will be provided in class, so just help them answer this on looseleaf and place in homework  folder for safe keeping.




INSTRUCTIONS TO LOG IN

3. Select social studies.

4. The article assigned could be the feature article that shows up, but check the assignment below before starting. If the assign article is not the main feature, click "search" and type in the name of the article. Then select and start lesson.

5. Once you start the lesson, complete all the steps from before reading poll all the way through stretch activity. Make sure you complete the though question in its entirety.

6. The assignment will be given on Friday and it will be checked on Thursday of the following week.
