REMINDERS, LESSON PLANS,HOMEWORK AND VOCABULARY WORDS FOR WEEK OF MARCH 27-31

REMINDERS


1.HOMEWORK SCHEDULE is as follow;
          Monday and Wednesday : Mrs. Bagley and Mr. Badia
          Tuesday and Thursday : Ms. Saville


2. VOCABULARY WORDS - Words are given in class with definition, but they could be found in the links at the end of this post, in case any student has missed the words.


3.MATERIALS: ALL students need at least 3 sharpened pencils. If they have mechanical pencils, then they need to bring their own lead. 


4.Map of the Month: Was given out on Monday March 13 and is  due Friday March 31.

5.UPCOMING EVENTS:

-ELA State Exam will be the last week of March on March 28-30. Keep practicing by completing I-ready lessons. There is many students who are still not logging on to I-ready over the weekend or in the afternoon. This is a helpful took , but if its not used it will serve its purpose.

6.Scholastic books: Flyers will be sent home periodically for students/parents to order books that they want. If any of the books we will need during the year are listed there I would ask for that book specifically. Otherwise it is a personal choice if you want to order. If you want to order books outside of the time I place  orders you can CLICK HERE TO BE DIRECTED TO SCHOLASTIC WEBSITE and then click on yellow section to connect with teacher and enter class code: LJ8KK. QUIZZES: 
3rd grade-science quiz March 31 (Vocabulary:close circuit, series circuit, parallel circuit).
3rd grade- social studies March 27 (Vocabulary:orchards, fig, lagoon, canals and the notes copied from blog last week for homework).
4th grade- social studies March 31
These are the last quizzes for quarter 3.


8. Students in third and fourth grade have been using Google Classroom very often, please help them remember their username and password. Login information should also be written at home in a safe places along with the login information for Achieve, IXL and I-ready. Although second grade is only using this sometimes, they also have usernames and passwords.

Username:first initial last name @olqmnyc.org. Example; John Smith would be jsmith@olqmnyc.org

Passwords: everyone's password was set to olqmnyc1, but it might be different if your child changed it.

REMINDERS FOR WEEK OF MARCH 27-31


1.Everyone should be practicing reading skills doing I-ready, especially third and fourth grade as they have their ELA state exam this week. I-ready should be used for about 30 minutes, so if the lesson you complete takes only 10 minutes continue working.


2.ALL STUDENTS need sharpen pencils with erasers from home. If you do not plan to buy lead , then please refrain from buying mechanical pencils. I do not have lead and it is not fair for other students to have to give others their lead.


3.Students in grades three and four need number 2 pencils for their state exam.

4.Map of the month is Due March 31.

5.Third grade social studies Italy book is Due Monday March 27 (if you haven't give it in). Also third grade received a reading packet. Please complete over the weekend and then we will be using this in class on Monday.

SECOND GRADE:
Science/Reading: Take the quizzes  (Science Quiz #1, Reading quiz #2) and get them signed as well as make corrections. 

*Study for for reading quiz (look at reminder #7 for words to review).


THIRD GRADE:
Science: Draw a diagram of a closed circuit. A diagram requires a picture and labels. 

Social Studies: Keep working on the Map of the month, which is DUE MARCH 31. Also complete the "Cultural Research Matrix Recording Form". This was given on Thursday except for the children who got Baptiste , which received it today. This is due tomorrow, Baptism kids have till Wednesday.

FOURTH GRADE:
Social Studies:Keep working on the Map of the Month. It is due March 31 and also complete I-Ready lessons and record in sheet.
