REMINDERS

1. No school on June 12.

2. All students received their study guides last week.

3. Map A Month (4th grade only) due June 17. If not by then it is a ZERO.

4. Third grade is doing a collection for which they need $5 by Wednesday June 10.

5. Second graders and some fourth graders will receive a paper where they drew an image on what they saw at the Observatory. In order to send these images back , the parents must fill out the back of the paper in its entirety. This will be given back on Tuesday June 10 and it is due by Thursday June 12.

- Pick two of the following taxes; sale, income, property, tolls, or tariffs. Draw two images , one for each of the taxes you choose. Make sure your image matches the tax you picked. Do this on white paper- which was provided in class.

REMINDERS FOR FIELD TRIP ON MAY 26

All students must wear school gym t-shirts.

*No backpacks.
*Wear sneakers.
*Bring lunch in a lunch bag.  (No glass bottles.) All food and drinks must fit into the lunchbag.
*No Ipads or electronics.  We are not responsible for lost property.
*All students attending need to have the school's gym shirt. If you do not have that shirt on, you will not be allowed to attend.

Trip Information/Regulations:

All students and chaperones will go through TSA-type security screening prior to entering the
Observatory experience. To ensure a quick and efficient check-in, please do not bring
student backpacks. We do not have lockers or storage for personal items. Other prohibited items include: pens, markers, highlighters, Swiss army or pocketknives, strollers, pets, firearms, and professional photo equipment. There will be no food or beverage permitted in the Observatory during Kids Day. Restrooms are available for use

FOURTH GRADE READING PROJECT FOR TALES OF A FOURTH GRADE NOTHING

The students have finished reading the book, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing- DUE WEDNESDAY MAY 27


Students are to pick one option from below to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the book.

OPTIONS:

A. Movie Marquee: This story is about to become a major movie and you have been chosen to design the promotional poster. Include the title, author of the book, listing of the major characters in the book and the actors and actresses that will play them and a short paragraph summarizing the story.


B. Mobile Magic: Create and assemble an exciting and colorful mobile to display in the classroom. Using a coat hanger, string and heavy papershow the plot, setting and characters of the story. Start by placing the setting at the top level, the characters at the middle level and developing the plot at the bottom level.


C. Board Game: Create a board game using vocabulary, information and characters from the story. Be sure to include a set of instructions for your game that tells the rules and object of the game. Make the game board, game pieces and cards.

- Finish reading chapter 7 and answer the following questions on looseleaf
1. Why did the British tax items?
2. Franklin was for the British, but then changed his mind. Explain what made him make this decision. 
- Review social studies vocabulary words for tomorrow.
