:HW: People together book page 19 # 1-2. Questions and answers  on looseleaf. Looseleaf must have full heading and label of the homework.
Example: People Together page 19 # 1-2


TUESDAY , OCTOBER 8
HW: Superkids book page 30 and black line master page 1.


WEDNESDAY , OCTOBER 9- GYM
HW: Complete family history book- this will be started in class.

THURSDAY , OCTOBER 10
ELA Interim exam

READING VOCABULARY WORDS
1.       Wail: to cry out because of sadness or plain.
2.       Gasp: to try to catch your breath.
3.       Swamp: shallow wetlands where lots of trees, shrubs, and plants grow.
4.       Loyal: faithful and caring, even during hard times.
5.       Plural: more than one in amount.
6.       Patient: to remain calm and quiet.
7.       Willpower: the ability to control your actions even when it is hard to do.
   Singular: one object  only. 


SOCIAL STUDIES VOCABULARY WORDS 
-Suburb: a place outside the city. There are lots of houses and not many buildings.
-Urban: a city. A place where there is a lot tall buildings, cars, people and, public transportation.

-Rural: an area of open spaces. There is a lot of land, but homes are very far apart and one must travel to the town or main street to shop. 
- voyage: a trip or journey from one land to another. 
- ship: a large vessel that moves on water either by sail or engine .
- discovery: the act of finding something new, that no one else knew about.

MONDAY SEPTEMBER 30
- Social Studies assessment
- HW: Copy the vocabulary word into their subject notebook. Make sure to label the notebook with Unit 1- Week 4.
HW: Create a list of transportation methods on looseleaf. Bring construction paper and art supplies tomorrow (glue, color pencils or crayons, scissors)


WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 2
- HW: Reading: Superkids page 22-23



FRIDAY  OCTOBER 4
- Reading weekly assessment.- will include reading comprehension and identifying words in writing that will be read aloud. ( This is the Unit 1 assessment from Superkids. Superkids Units are not the same as the regular units , but Ms.Saviile and I incorporate both in our teaching. This assessment is purely based on Superkids.)

READING VOCABULARY WORDS
1. antonyms: words that mean the opposite
2.  inspect: look at closely.
3. rinse: wash lightly.
4. crust: hard edges of the bread and other baked goods.
5. printed: wrote.
6. admit: confess or let someone know.
7. carton: box for holding something.
8. difficult: hard.
9. barely: almost not.

1.  transportation: word from last week.

HW: Reading: The Stories Julian Tells- Book report - Due next week Tuesday.

TUESDAY OCTOBER 1
- HW: write reading words in reading notebook.


WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 2
- HW: Social Studies : read pages 36-43 from Communities book and answer Think about it section # 1-3 on page 43. In sentence form on looseleaf. Make sure to label the page and question numbers, if not points will be detected.- This was modeled in class.

Monday September 23
- HW: copy vocabulary words into the subject notebook.

Wednesday September 24
- HW: Superkids workbook page 14
- HW: Social studies: Using a white piece of paper given in class create two images. They must be of the same type of things, but have differences. They will use these images to compare and contrast in class tomorrow. Look at their People together book pages 12-13 for examples we have used. For example: two buildings (one is 5 stories tall, one is 10 stories tall, both blue, etc. )

Reading vocabulary words
1. gadget- have in notebook from last week
2. robot- have in notebook from last week
3. synonyms- in notebook from class today
4. homonyms: words that sound the same , but mean different things. Ex. one, won
5. inventor: someone who makes or thinks of something new.
6. motor: an engine that makes a machine work
7. cause: the reason why something happens
8. effect: what happened.
9. recipe: a set of written instructions that show how to make something to eat.

Social Studies vocabulary words
1. alike: how things are the same.
2. different: how things are not the same.
3. neighborhood: a place where people live, work and play.
4. community: also a place where people live , work and play, but it has neighborhoods.
5. suburb: a type of community that just outside of the city.
6. transportation: a way of moving goods or people from one place to another.

HW: Read pages 16-19 from communities textbook and pick two of the communities mentioned. Compare and contrast them on looseleaf.

Reading vocabulary words
1. figs: a type of fruit that grows on a tree.
2. measures: a system of seeing the size, weigh or dimensions of an object.
3. fertilizer: a substance added to the plants for their nutrition leading to growth.
4. relaxed: being free or relieved from anxiety or stress.
5. pliers: tool for bending wire or holding small things.
6. method: process or technique to do something.
7. prehistoric: part of the period of time before people had written records.
8. mastodon: an extinct elephant-like animal.
9. cinquain poem created in five lines.
10. Sequence: the order in which things happen. Ex. First, next, then and last.

Social Studies vocabulary words
1. community: a place where people work, live and play.
2. citizens: a member of a community.
3. pollution: anything that spoils the land.
4. Urban community: a community in the city and the surrounding areas.
5. suburbs: a community near the city, but there is less buildings and more houses.
6. Rural community: a community of farms or open spaces.
