REMINDERS , LESSON PLANS AND HOMEWORK FOR WEEK OF JANUARY 11-15

REMINDERS

1. HOMEWORK SCHEDULE is as follow;
          Monday and Wednesday : Mrs.Bagley and Mr.Badia
          Tuesday and Thursday : Ms. Saville

2. VOCABULARY WORDS will be given and written during class time and will also be listed on the lesson plan.

3. EXTENDED DAY: Fourth grade will stay on Tuesday for math and Thursday for ELA. Third grade will stay on Tuesday for ELA and Wednesday for math.

4. EXAM:Study guides for midterm exam are on this post, look for them and use them to study


5.MAP A MONTH :It is worth the same as a quiz, so not doing its like getting a 0 on a quiz.

6. WEEK CHANGE: Monday January 18 there is no classes.

HOMEWORK FOR JANUARY 11, 2016

SECOND GRADE:
-On the white paper provided in class, create a poster telling others that they should vote. Explain what is voting, what do people need to vote. Draw a matching picture and color it. Be creative !!


THIRD GRADE:
-Make sure that you have read and completed the work for chapters 2 and 3 of your book club. Make sure you are answering the questions for those two chapters that match your book club book.



FOURTH GRADE:
-Complete the note catcher  (questions 1-9) using the article section (pages 56-58) "poisonous prey".

1.Copy the following word into your social studies notebook under yesterdays aim.
    data: information 
2.Look through your notebook and highlight/underline/mark in any way the words you need to know for the midterm. Use the study guide that is posted to help you.
3.Complete Achieve 3000 "Use Your Voice" before reading poll, article, activity, after reading poll, and though question (the though question needs to be completed on the program itself , not on looseleaf.




THIRD GRADE:
1. Book Club- DUE THURSDAY JANUARY 14
A Crazy Day With Cobras:
A.Chapter 4 work should have been completed , if not complete tonight.
B.Read chapter 5 and 6 and so the work for those chapters.

A.Chapter 4 work should have been completed , if not complete tonight.
B.Read chapter 5 and complete the work for chapter 5.

Third Grade: Reread chapter 1 of your book club book and explain the who, what and where. Make sure that the where is where they are in chapter one , not where they will be going. Also the what needs to have a few sentences 3-4 explaining the main events in the text.

CHRISTMAS BREAK HOMEWORK AND MIDTERM STUDY GUIDES

Dear parents and students,

I want to thank you for all the awesome presents and hope you and your families have a blessed and joyful break. Also below is the work that students are to complete over the break. Take your time and do not wait until the night before. Look below next to each grades homework for the midterm study guide. Begin looking at the study guide and the notebook (students were told to take the notebook home) and marking what you need to review and making  a list of what you do not have. You may use a regular dictionary to find the meaning of words you may have missed.

SECOND GRADE ANNOUNCEMENTS !!!- FOR REGULAR WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS LOOK AT THE POST BELOW


Monday:
-Half day dismissal- 12 O'clock.

Tuesday:
-Holiday Assembly at 9am. Wear red and /or green.

Wednesday:
-Trip to the Cloisters. Wear GYM uniform- send money and note with what your child could have from McDonalds.

Thursday:
-We will be packing up - please make sure you send bags ahead of time.


Friday:
-Lessons and carols at 8:30 in church - students will perform the same song from Tuesday. Again wear read and/or green.
-We will be having a Holiday class party. Please send in $3 along with  a snack to share. See below:
Table 1-2: juice individual packs please- no soda.

5.MAP A MONTH (3rd and 4th grade only)was given today November 30 and it is due December 17. If you will leave on vacation before then , please hand in before your last day. None will be accepted in January 2016.

SCHOLASTIC: The company has said that the books will be delivered to the school by the latest December 18.  When they arrive I will distribute.

B. Review reading vocabulary words; hollow, quills, muscles, sequence.


THIRD GRADE:
A.If not completed in class finish the following questions on looseleaf in sentence form. Write the page number where you found the answer in parenthesis.
1.What did Jack and Annie smell when they woke up? Page #?
2.How did they help the villagers fight the fire?
3.Why did Jack and Annie want to go back to Basho’s Castle?Page #?

B.Reread chapter 7 from Dragon of the Red Dawn and complete the first sheet in the packet given out in class.

A. Review chapter 4 and complete pages 108-110 Thinking about Vocabulary #1-10 answer only and Thinking about Facts #1-10 sentence form only.

6. WEEK CHANGE: On December 11 there will be a full day, where students need to wear full uniform. The scheduled half day has moved to Monday December 14.

-Go back and look at pages 2-5 from Super Magazine and pick an article. On looseleaf write the title of the article in quotation marks and explain why you liked it. Include text evidence.

THIRD GRADE:
-Read chapter 5 and on looseleaf explain the who, what, and where (be specific , do not just say Japan) also find 4 text evidence that talk about customs or traditions. Include the page number.
-Complete the though question on "Earthquake Shakes Japan"

FOURTH GRADE:
-Define the vocabulary words on page 100 from social studies textbook in your social studies notebook.
-Reread section from social studies text and answer questions #1-4 from page 99. On looseleaf, sentence form. 



HOMEWORK FOR DECEMBER 9 2015
SECOND GRADE:
-Review reading vocabulary words from last weeks post.
-Copy the summary that we began in class (found in the reading notebook) on a looseleaf with full heading. Using the article "Saving the Cranes" in the Super Magazine finish the summary by adding 4 more sentences.
*Tomorrow Thursday December 10, students can wear regular clothes and pay $1. On Friday December 11, they are to wear full uniform.




THIRD GRADE:
-Review reading vocabulary words from last weeks post.
-Using the packet from class- Complete the sheet labeled Working with context clues Recording form part 2 : Homework. (Fill in all three boxes for the words wares and clearing)




FOURTH GRADE
-Read lesson 4 from chapter 4 and answer questions #1-4 from page 105. On looseleaf in sentence form.
-Review reading vocabulary words from last weeks post.
-Finish the though questions using the article "The Lost People"
