READING VOCABULARY WORDS
1. Locust: any of several grasshoppers that have
short antennae and migrate in groups.
2. Conquered: to acquire by force. To gain or
win.
3. Ceremony: the formal activity conducted on important
occasions (president inauguration), religious purpose (marriage).
4. Cyclone: a large scale of circular motion
wind.
5. Petrified: to convert into stone or a stony
substance.
6. Whirlwinds: several small masses of air
rotating rapidly around over land or sea.
7.
sweathouse: a special building among Native Americans used for purifying the
body by sweating in which water is poured over heated stones, which produces
steam.
