MONDAY APRIL 15- UNIT 4, WEEK 6
- Reading quiz which was scheduled for last Friday will be given today, due to coaching session.
- Social studies quiz scheduled for today will be given tomorrow.
- Check out last week second grade post for the notes.
- HW: SS-  Watch the following video and Find out the following information about Christopher Columbus
1. Where was he born?
2. When was he born?
3. What was he trying to do?
4. His accomplishments.

HW: Read SUPER magazine pages 39-40 and answer the following questions on looseleaf:

P.40- What advice in Frazzled give?
P.40 - What should Big Kid do about his babyish presents?

READING VOCABULARY WORDS
Prairie: flat open fields with tall grasses
banjo: a musical instrument played by plucking strings.
cornmeal: dried corn tat is ground and used for food.
saddlebag: a large bag that hangs over the horse.
molasses: a thick, sweet syrup.
post rider: a person who delivers the mail by horse.
panther: a big black cat-like animal that lives in the wild.
coyote: a small wolf-like animal
rattlesnake: a poisonous snake that makes a rattling sound by shaking its tail.


SOCIAL STUDIES VOCABULARY WORDS
1. EXPLORERS: a person who travels to a new place to learn about it.
2. COLONIST:  aperson who lives in a colony
3. COLONY: a place ruled by another country.
4. CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS: discovered America by accident while trying to find Asia.
5. GRID MAP: a map using squares used to find places.
6. INDEPENDENCE: freedom or liberty.
