REMINDERS, HOMEWORK, AND VOCABULARY WORDS FOR WEEK OF APRIL 3-7

REMINDERS


1.HOMEWORK SCHEDULE is as follow;
          Monday and Wednesday : Mrs. Bagley and Mr. Badia
          Tuesday and Thursday : Ms. Saville


2. VOCABULARY WORDS - Words are given in class with definition, but they could be found in the links at the end of this post, in case any student has missed the words.


3.MATERIALS: ALL students need at least 3 sharpened pencils. If they have mechanical pencils, then they need to bring their own lead. 


4.Map of the Month: Will be given out on Tuesday April 4 and its due April 24th. 

5.UPCOMING EVENTS:

-Thursday April 6, distribution of report cards
-Friday April 7 Easter celebration at church at 9am
-Friday April 7, parent-teacher meetings 3-8pm. 
-Easter Break starts April 7 at dismissal. 

6.Scholastic books: Flyers will be sent home periodically for students/parents to order books that they want. If any of the books we will need during the year are listed there I would ask for that book specifically. Otherwise it is a personal choice if you want to order. If you want to order books outside of the time I place  orders you can CLICK HERE TO BE DIRECTED TO SCHOLASTIC WEBSITE and then click on yellow section to connect with teacher and enter class code: LJ8KK. QUIZZES: 
No quizzes this week.


8. Students in third and fourth grade have been using Google Classroom very often, please help them remember their username and password. Login information should also be written at home in a safe places along with the login information for Achieve, IXL and I-ready. Although second grade is only using this sometimes, they also have usernames and passwords.

Username:first initial last name @olqmnyc.org. Example; John Smith would be jsmith@olqmnyc.org

Passwords: everyone's password was set to olqmnyc1, but it might be different if your child changed it.

SECOND GRADE:
Science/Reading: Achieve 3000 article and activity "Pluto's Day in the Sun" 


THIRD GRADE:
Social Studies:Read pages 184-189 from social studies textbook and answer the following question on looseleaf.
1.Who are Taipings?
2.What do you think made the Imperial system lose power?


FOURTH GRADE:
Social Studies:  Read page 142-143 from the old social studies textbook and answer the following questions on looseleaf.

1.Why did the states want to stay together and form a country instead of staying as separate states?
2.What was the goal of the Convention of Representatives?
3.Why did the convention keep moving location?
4.Explain in detail what is the constitution. Be very specific, use at least two pieces of text evidence.
