Fourth grade final review for redaing and social studies

Reading

Students are to study the vocabulary words from the following stories:
A. Because of Winn Dixie
B. Lewis, Clark and Me
C. Grandfather's Journey
D. The Horned Toad Prince
E. Letters Home from Yosemite
F. What Jo Did
G. Coyote school news
H. Grace and the time machine
I. So you want to be a president
J. Adelina's Whales
K. How night came from the sea
L. Eye of the storm
M. Sailing home
N. Moonwalk


The definitions are in your child's reading notebook.  Students should also know:*
-cause and effect
-main idea
-fact and opinion
-authors purpose
-sequence
-prefixes and suffixes
- drawing conclusions
-making inferences


* These skills will be tested through answering questions about reading passages.
The students have notes on all the skills above in their reading notebook and they are also in their reading textbook. 

Social Studies 

-Students are to study all their notes located in their notebooks paying close attention to vocabulary words.  The final is covering everything from chapter 1 to 10 and chapter 12. They should be able to answer the following questions;

- name the 5 regions of New York
- know detailed information about the Declaration of independence
- be able to explain in detail the difference between slaves and indentured servants
- know what the state Capital of New York and why is it at that location
-  Explain what the Industrial revolution is and what the effects were
- know who Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Stanton Cady were and what is their importance
- Know all Detail about the Civil War
- Know the importance of Harriet Tubman
- Know the Great Depression
- know the three branches of state government and national government and what they do. 

There will also be a DBQ. Students will answer short questions on several  images and then one main questions involving all images and their knowledge of social studies.
