MIDTERM REVIEW FOR SECOND GRADE

SECOND GRADE HAS GONE OVER THE UNIT EXAMS 1 AND 2 AND CORRECTED THE TEST. THEY WILL TAKE THE TEST HOME ON FRIDAY AS A MEANS TO STUDY. THE TESTS WILL NOT  BE SENT HOME IN THE FOLDER, SO MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CHILD BRINGS THEIR HOMEWORK FOLDER TO SCHOOL, SO THEY CAN PLACE THE TEST PAPERS IN THERE FOR SAFE KEEPING.

THE FOLLOWING WILL BE COVERED ON THE MIDTERM EXAM FOR ELA;

THE TEST WILL BE ON WEDNESDAY , JANUARY 11

- nouns
- proper nouns
- Abbreviations of proper nouns; month and days
- Singular nouns
 -plural nouns
- know and understand the parts of a letter and their positions on a letter
- know the 3 different purposes for writing a friendly letter
- know the purpose of personal writing
- know the 4 type of sentences
-  naming part of sentence
- action part of sentence
- order words
- format of a how to article
- what is a how to article and the parts of an article
- students must also use capital letters, end marks and indent in the writing section of the test.
- be able to write a letter using proper format
- spelling words from unit 1, 2, 16 and , 17. 

THE FOLLOWING WILL BE COVERED ON THE MIDTERM EXAM FOR READING;

THE TEST WILL BE ON THURSDAY , JANUARY 12.  

- Vocabulary words from: The Mixed-up Chameleon, Hedgehog bakes a cake, Helping out, The enormous turnip and Watermelon day.
- alphabetizing words using 1st, 2nd and 3rd letter.
- Using a dictionary
- meaning of homonyms
- be able to recognize homonyms
- sequence ( beginning, middle and end / first , then , next, last or finally)
- know and be able to identify  main idea and supporting details
 - know and be able to identify narrative elements
- Synonyms
- Antonyms
- compound words
- the skill of following directions
