REMINDERS AND LESSON PLANS FOR WEEK OF JANUARY 12-16

REMINDERS

1. Reading homework is due on Thursday for all three grades.
2. Homework is not accepted late. 
3.There is no school on Friday January 16 or Monday January 19. 
4. Students should read every night between 15-30 minutes.
5. Midterm review sheets were given out today Monday January 12
6. The vocabulary words will be quizzed on the first quiz given after midterms- they are not on the midterm exam.

SECOND GRADE: reading worksheet " Food is our fuel "

THIRD GRADE: reading worksheet " The Smuggler" Questions on looseleaf : 1. Why did the inspector say "You are a clever smuggler!"? Use details to support your answer. 2. What was the smuggler bringing across the border? 3. Explain why that was a valuable item? 

FOURTH GRADE: reading worksheet "The Hickory Toothpick ". Questions on looseleaf; 1. Why did the person burn up their shelves and chairs? 2. Explain why the/she used the fireplace to get out the home. 3.What happened to the hickory tree log? Explain in detail.

SECOND GRADE: Copy reading and social studies vocabulary words found below into their notebook. Also study for midterm following the study guide and using both notebooks. 

THIRD GRADE: Study for midterm using study guide and both notebook. 

FOURTH GRADE: Define the social studies words below using the social studies textbook. Also study for the midterm using study guide and reading and social studies notebooks.

Candidate: a person who wants to be selected. Qualification:the things that are required to do something. ballots: a slip of paper or machines that allows you to vote. campaign: action taken to get a goal done. election: the event where people vote (pick/choose) the person they want. advertisement: way of persuading people to do something

SECOND GRADE READING

adventure fiction: text where characters face a problem or hard situation while on a quest or journey.
galloped: riding a horse
screeched: a high pitch sound.
stranded: the act of being trapped or stuck.
island: a piece of land surrounded by water on all sides.
