REMINDER, LESSON PLANS, HOMEWORK AND VOCABULARY WORDS FOR WEEK OF JANUARY 30-FEBRUARY 3

REMINDERS


1.HOMEWORK SCHEDULE is as follow;
          Monday and Wednesday : Mrs. Bagley and Mr. Badia
          Tuesday and Thursday : Ms. Saville
*Tuesday Third grade will be receiving homework in either reading, science or social studies.

2. VOCABULARY WORDS - Words are given in class with definition, some will be define. Although we are still finishing module 2, the words will be listed under Module 3, since students already took their midterm which included module 1 and 2. 


3.MATERIALS: Second graders need at least 3 sharpened pencils. 


4.Map of the Month: New map of the month will be given this week. 

5.UPCOMING EVENTS:

- 3:15 dismissal starts today to accommodate the hour and a half of math a day. 
-Report card distribution February 2
-Half a day February 3
-Parent teacher conference February 3, from 3-8 pm. 

6.Scholastic books: Flyers will be sent home periodically for students/parents to order books that they want. If any of the books we will need during the year are listed there I would ask for that book specifically. Otherwise it is a personal choice if you want to order. If you want to order books outside of the time I place  orders you can CLICK HERE TO BE DIRECTED TO SCHOLASTIC WEBSITE and then click on yellow section to connect with teacher and enter class code: LJ8KK.

QUIZZES: Reading quizes will be given on February 3 and 2nd and  3rd grade science on Monday February 6 and 3rd and 4th grade social studies on Tuesday February 7.. 


8. Students in third and fourth grade have been using Google Classroom very often, please help them remember their username and password. Login information should also be written at home in a safe places along with the login information for Achieve, IXL and I-ready. Although second grade is only using this sometimes, they also have usernames and passwords.

Username:first initial last name @olqmnyc.org. Example; John Smith would be jsmith@olqmnyc.org

Passwords: everyone's password was set to olqmnyc1, but it might be different if your child changed it.

HOMEWORK FOR JANUARY 30, 2017

SECOND GRADE: 
Science:Watch the following video:CLICK HERE FOR VIDEO and answer the following questions on looseleaf. * You can stop video at the 4 minute mark. 
1.What is a fixed orbit?
2.How long is a revolution? 
3.The earth rotates from west to east. True or False
4.How long does it take for the earth to rotate? 



THIRD GRADE: 
Reading: Reread chapter 3 from Carnival at Candlelight and answer the following questions on looseleaf. Answers only in sentence form.

1.How did Jack and Annie get into the palace?
2.What did Annie want to use when they weren't able to figure out the rhyme Merlin gave them?




FOURTH GRADE:
Social Studies:Copy and complete the chart from page 133 on looseleaf. Only complete the left side on the French and Indian War. Using the old social studies textbook , which should be kept at home. 



HOMEWORK FOR JANUARY 31, 2017

THIRD GRADE:  

Science:
1.Finish your images from class; an example of conductors and insulators. Make sure you show in your image it shows how it is an insulator or an conductor.

2.Answer the following questions; 
A. How do animals who live in cold places stay warm? 
B. Do they have insulators or conductors? Explain




HOMEWORK FOR February 1, 2017

SECOND GRADE: 
Reading:Read the passage and write the most important events in your own words. There must three events (the beginning, middle and end), just like we practiced in class today.

THIRD GRADE: 
Social Studies: Using pages 156-156 from the social studies textbook answer the following questions:
1.What is a tourist?
2.What are some the things tourist could do in Italy?




FOURTH GRADE:
Reading:
1.Complete the research journal questions (#13-14) using the Animals Defense book sections that were photocopied and given several times. If you did not complete #11-12, make sure you complete them.

2.Complete the graphic organizer using the article from Achieve 3000 used in class this morning.
*Just copy the though questions and get pieces of evidence. Do not answer the question.
