REMINDERS, LESSONS, HOMEWORK AND VOCABULARY WORDS FOR WEEK OF MARCH 6-10

REMINDERS


1.HOMEWORK SCHEDULE is as follow;
          Monday and Wednesday : Mrs. Bagley and Mr. Badia
          Tuesday and Thursday : Ms. Saville


2. VOCABULARY WORDS - Words are given in class with definition, but they could be found in the links at the end of this post, in case any student has missed the words.


3.MATERIALS: Second graders need at least 3 sharpened pencils.

6.Scholastic books: Flyers will be sent home periodically for students/parents to order books that they want. If any of the books we will need during the year are listed there I would ask for that book specifically. Otherwise it is a personal choice if you want to order. If you want to order books outside of the time I place  orders you can CLICK HERE TO BE DIRECTED TO SCHOLASTIC WEBSITE and then click on yellow section to connect with teacher and enter class code: LJ8KK. QUIZZES: Quizzes
2nd grade vocabulary: recount, gnawed, lasso, trotted, meadow, central message
3rd grade science vocabulary: electron, proton, resistance
4th grade social studies vocabulary: delegates, Continental Congress, Declaration of Independence, militia and also review pages 115-117 from old social studies book. 



8. Students in third and fourth grade have been using Google Classroom very often, please help them remember their username and password. Login information should also be written at home in a safe places along with the login information for Achieve, IXL and I-ready. Although second grade is only using this sometimes, they also have usernames and passwords.

Username:first initial last name @olqmnyc.org. Example; John Smith would be jsmith@olqmnyc.org

Passwords: everyone's password was set to olqmnyc1, but it might be different if your child changed it.

SECOND GRADE:
Reading: Review the words listed above in the quiz section, words are in the vocabulary list below.
Science: CLICK HERE AND READ and then answer the following questions on looselaf.
1.What causes the seasons? Make sure to use details from the text.
2.Why does our tilt matter?


THIRD GRADE:
Science-
1.Complete the classwork ( most were done in class) Draw the diagram of a close circuit and answer the following questions in your notebook in sentence form. 
Questions: 
a.What is a closed circuit?
b. Explain what happens during a closed circuit? (process of getting power and the power moving to make something happen)
c.If a closed circuit is opened , what would happen?

2.Today's homework
Review the words electron, proton and resistance and Answer the following on looseleaf: How does an object get an electric charge?




FOURTH GRADE:
Social Studies:
1.Review for social studies quiz: Vocabulary words: delegates, Continental Congress, Declaration of Independence, militia and also review pages 115-117 from old social studies book. 

2.Using the same pages that you reviewed for the quiz answer the following question on looselaf in sentence form
A.What happened when New Yorkers heard the Declaration of Independence. Use complete sentence and complete details as to what happened.

SECOND GRADE:
Reading: Click here for reading passage and 2 questions to answer on looseleaf.


THIRD GRADE: 
Reading:Complete a reading comprehension under the "extra lesson " tab on I-ready. I will assign the lesson to the class, it will posted on Wednesday afternoon, to assure it is done for homework , not during in class I-ready time.
*The lesson is on Main Idea 30 minutes


Social Studies: No Social studies- just focus on I-ready


FOURTH GRADE:
Reading:Complete a reading comprehension under the "extra lesson " tab on I-ready. I will assign the lesson to the class, it will posted on Wednesday afternoon, to assure it is done for homework , not during in class I-ready time. The lesson is 30 minutes long.
*The lesson is on key details 28 minutes
