REMINDERS FOR WEEK OF DECEMBER 2-6
1. Students must have their own sharpened pencils,. looseleaf , erasers, etc. Stopping class to find supplies for someone is distracting for everyone.

2. This week we will be reviewing  for the interim exam.

3. Second grade will be working on a reading response to Frog and Toad All Year.

4. Fourth grade will be working on a response to I survived: The Japanese Tsunami.

5. Friday will be a half a day- DISMISSAL IS 11AM.

6. The vocabulary words from this week are for unit 3.

7. The interim exam will be the week of December 9-13.

8. The unit 2 exams will be the week of December 16-20. Updates of specific dates will be posted soon.

9. Make sure your child has all the vocabulary words covered in unit 2 in their notebook, they will be tested on unit exam. Interim only includes reading comprehension using the skills learned in class, NO Vocabulary that we have done ( unless skill specific , ex. Main idea) will be on the interim exam.


SECOND GRADE VOCABULARY WORDS

1. statue: a figure made from stone, wood or metal to look like a person or animal.
2. lava: the hot, melted rock flowing from a volcano.
3. nocturnal: active at night
4. wildfire: a large forest or brush fire that spreads quickly.
5. predict: to tell about something before it happens.
6. traffic: people or vehicles coming and going along a way of travel.
7. tower: a tall building or part of a building.
8. cargo: things to be moved from one place to another.
9. tide: the rise and fall of the ocean.
