REMINDERS, HOMEWORK AND VOCABULARY WORDS FOR MARCH 2-6

REMINDERS

1. When homework is assigned on IXL- it is checked and graded. Not logging on or logging on and doing anything counts as a zero. 

2. Make sure students have pencils, erasers and all necessary daily materials. Please check their backpack every night for these supplies.

3. Friday is a half a day, 12 O'clock dismissal.

4. State exams from third grade and up will  be 20 school days away.

HOMEWORK FOR March 4, 2015

-SECOND GRADE: Create pictures for the 8 rights we have as human beings ( paper was given and labeled in class). Color the pictures as well as draw them.
-Complete the science work that was assigned in class.
1. Copy and answer the sentences from page 79-80 from your science workbook to your science notebook.
2. Create a picture of the desert on the white paper given.
3. Answer the following question: 1. What is a desert? 2. What lives in a desert? 3. How do plants and animals meet their needs?

-THIRD GRADE: Red book, read pages 45-46 and answer the questions that are there on looseleaf.



-FOURTH GRADE: Read chapter 3 from Because of Winn Dixie

  1. refugees: a person who flees for safety.
  2. diplomat: person appointed by the national government to communicate with another country.
  3. visas: permission given by a representative , to allow someone to enter a country.
  4. representative: a person who represents a group of people.
  5. disobey: to refuse to obey.


SOCIAL STUDIES
     1. Constitution:the system of laws and beliefs by which this country is made from.
     2.  Bill of Rights: a document that has the rights that people have by law in the Unites States.

1. Athena: the goddess of wisdom, war and civilization and the patron of the city of Athens.
2. Agora: large place set for meetings for ancient Athens.
3. Sparta: city-state in Ancient Greece, famous for its powerful army as well as its battles with Athens.

-FOURTH GRADE

READING
1. hurricane: a violent , tropical storm with extreme wind speeds.
2. irreparably: incapable of being repaired or made good.
3. ferocious: fierce , wild or violent.
4. wreckage: remains or fragments of something destroyed.
5. precautions: using or displaying precaution.
6. restorations: the act of being put back together, restored.
7. vulnerable: capable of being wounded or hurt.

SOCIAL STUDIES 
1. bank:a business that helps people save and borrow money.
2. Stocks: shares of ownership in a business.
3. Buttonwood Agreement: agreement created by 24 brokers under the buttonwood tree on wall street. they discussed the rules for buying and selling stocks.
4. NY Stock Exchange: a building on Wall street where stocks and bought and sold.
5. frontier: the edge of the settled area.
6. Big Tree Treaty:agreement in which the Senecas sold nearly all their land to the Holland Land Company.
