REMINDERS, VOCABULARY, HOMEWORK AND LESSON PLANS FOR WEEK OF FEBRUARY 22-26

REMINDERS

1. HOMEWORK SCHEDULE is as follow;
          Monday and Wednesday : Mrs.Bagley and Mr.Badia
          Tuesday and Thursday : Ms. Saville

2. VOCABULARY WORDS will be given and written during class time and will also be listed on the lesson plan and on a link at the end of this post.

3. EXTENDED DAY: Fourth grade will stay on Tuesday for math and Thursday for ELA. Third grade will stay on Tuesday for ELA and Wednesday for math.

4. EXAM:
-Tuesday February 23
SECOND GRADE: reading vocabulary words; synonyms,mail coach, clerk, lad, foolhardy,slope, stared, fellow and courageous.
THIRD GRADE:reading vocabulary words; cunning, embrace, coop, awl, paced, conveyed, peacefully.
FOURTH GRADE:reading vocabulary words: perspective, actively, tax, influence, opinion, justify, established, fleet, surrendered, treaty, timeline, Tories, loyalist.

Thursday February 25
SECOND GRADE:social studies vocabulary; hero, honor, major league , pilot, prejudice, segregated, discrimination, racism.
THIRD GRADE:vocabulary words; elite, mission, prejudice, segregated
FOURTH GRADE: vocabulary words ; frontier, Big Tree Treaty, War of 1812, Treaty of Ghent and textbook pages 160-164.




5.MAP A MONTH: It was given Friday February 5 and it was due February 19.Maps are worth the same as a quiz and everyone received one, therefor if students do not give it in .It results in a 0.

6. WEEK CHANGE:
A.Hippy day on February 23
B.Stations of the Cross February 26 at 10:30am
C.Half a day February 26


7.ACHIEVE 3000: When a student submits a though question or written response, it will get graded and then the comments I make will be emailed to the students Achieve 3000 mailbox.

SECOND GRADE:
1.On Friday students worked on learning about various important African Americans and will continue working on it this week. Look at the name list below to find out who your child will be researching. Use the name given and find information about them using the resourceful website or any other website Please print the information you find and have your child bring it in on Monday along with either color pencils or crayons.

*Students had two hours of Achieve today 2/22, so most of this should be completed.



FOURTH GRADE:
Progress book page(The orange book Ms.Saville has given each student a copy of):  read pages 112-115 and do  # 1-3 from page 115. Answers only on looseleaf.

SECOND GRADE:
1.In three- four sentences explain why Rosa Parks is important. On looseleaf.
2.Write 4 pairs of synonym words. (Ex. lad, boy). on looseleaf.

2.Study vocabulary listed above for social studies quiz along with the text on the quiz you received today.


THIRD GRADE:
1.Using article "George Washington Carver" given in class , explain how this person has affected our lives today. Do this on looseleaf. DO NOT ANSWER THE QUESTIONS THAT ARE ATTACHED AND DO NOT LOOSE IT.BRING BACK TOMORROW.

2.Go on Achieve and complete the People to Remember writing activity (click on the various pictures on the home page until this activity comes up).You may use someone we have spoken about in class or someone you have heard about or research a list of important African American persons). DUE BY SUNDAY at 8 am.

3.Study vocabulary listed above for social studies quiz along with the text on the quiz you received today.



FOURTH GRADE:
Page 186 from social studies textbook section "Thinking About Facts" # 1, 2 and 10 on looseleaf. Answers only.
