REMINDERS, VOCABULARY, HOMEWORK AND LESSON PLANS FOR WEEK OF FEBRUARY 29-MARCH 4

REMINDERS

1. HOMEWORK SCHEDULE is as follow;
          Monday and Wednesday : Mrs.Bagley and Mr.Badia
          Tuesday and Thursday : Ms. Saville

2. VOCABULARY WORDS will be given and written during class time and will also be listed on the lesson plan and on a link at the end of this post.

3. EXTENDED DAY: Extended Day classes held after school are completed. In reviewing the test data from the Interim Tests for students in grades 3-8 Mr. Woods determined that the majority of students have attained the goals of the extended day program.
Therefore, the Mathematics and ELA extended day classes will not be held for the remainder of the school year. Students should continue to use IXL and Achieve 3000 for at least 20 minutes a day at home to guarantee success on the NYS tests. 

4. EXAM:
-Tuesday March 1
SECOND GRADE
THIRD GRADE:vocabulary words; elite, mission, prejudice, segregated
FOURTH GRADE: vocabulary words ; frontier, Big Tree Treaty, War of 1812, Treaty of Ghent and textbook pages 160-164.

5.MAP A MONTH: Will be given on March 1.If this is not done it receives a zero on projects.

6. WEEK CHANGE:
A.Dr.Seuss Day on Wednesday March 2. Come in your best Dr.Seuss inspire costume.
B.Stations of the cross on Friday March 4th are 10:30.
C. No more extended day- see above or school's blog.



7.ACHIEVE 3000: When a student submits a though question or written response, it will get graded and then the comments I make will be emailed to the students Achieve 3000 mailbox.

HOMEWORK FOR FEBRUARY 29, 2016


SECOND GRADE:
1.Using the printout you have based on the African American person I assigned to you two weeks ago write a 5-6 sentence paragraph explaining why they are important.
- Begin with full heading.
-Skip a line and write Important African American Person: Name of the person
-Skip a line indent and begin ;Name was an African American_________(leader, hero, artist etc.)
-Add sentences with details as to why they are important.
*WE WENT OVER THIS IN CLASS.


THIRD GRADE:
1.In your social studies notebook define the following words
congress: the part of our government that makes laws.
minority;group that contains fewer people.
pioneer:person or group that is the first to do something.
term:period of time that is assigned to a person to serve.


FOURTH GRADE:
1.Define the following words using your social studies textbook in your social studies notebook.
Industry, tanning, Industrial Revolution, factory, landscape, immigrant, famine and Croton Aqueduct.

SECOND GRADE:
1.Superkids page 55 on synonyms.


THIRD GRADE:
1.Define the following words in your reading notebook. The words and definition are in the vocabulary link below.
stalking

amiss
seized
2.If you haven't finish the social studies words from Monday's homework , make sure to finish them. 
3.Complete the though question and activity for "Great Women Honored" if you did not finish in class.



FOURTH GRADE:
1.Define the following words in your reading notebook using the vocabulary link below.
tumultuous 
regiment
scarce
carcass
cowhands
chuckling
peculiarities

2.Make sure your social studies vocabulary words were defined in their notebook. 

3.Read pages 178-181 from textbook and be prepared to answer questions about in class tomorrow.
