REMINDERS, LESSON PLANS, HOMEWORK AND VOCABULARY FOR WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 26-30

REMINDERS


1.HOMEWORK SCHEDULE is as follow;
          Monday and Wednesday : Mrs. Bagley and Mr. Badia
          Tuesday and Thursday : Ms. Saville

2. VOCABULARY WORDS - Words are given in class with definition, some will be define for homework. As we add reading and social studies words, they will be added to the links below. Check out the links below.


3.MATERIALS: Some second grade students are still missing notebooks. Please make sure your child has 6 different notebooks. 


4.Map of the Month  are for  third and fourth grade only. The map will be given at the end of this week and is due October 12. 


5.UPCOMING EVENTS:No school on Wednesday September 28.


6.Scholastic books: Flyers will be sent home periodically for students/parents to order books that they want. If any of the books we will need during the year are listed there I would ask for that book specifically. Otherwise it is a personal choice if you want to order. 7.GYM is on Tuesday's for Third grade and Friday for Second grade. 


8.SUMMER READING for SECOND GRADE: The questions can be found at the top of the blog. We will start with  Poppleton in Winter next Monday September 19 and then with the second book on October 3. So if you have not finished either book, you still have time. 

9.EXTENDED DAY: Monday -4th grade with Mr.Pacido(math)
                                   Wednesday-4th grade with me (reading)
                                   Wednesday -3rd grade with Mr.Badia (math)
                                   Thursday -3rd grade with me (reading)

10. QUIZZES: 
Friday September 30
            Second grade: Social studies- Suburb, Urban and Rural communities.  
            Third grade: Reading- vocabulary words : authors purpose, details, notice, norms, record,                gist. motivation, detail.
            Fourth grade: Social studies: 5 types of maps, identifying the maps and explaining why that
            the type of map, landforms, geography, border, glacier, Ice Age , till, and drumlins and                    notes up to 9/19/16.

Monday October 3
            Second grade: Reading quiz based on Only Comprehension. 
            Fourth grade:Reading Vocabulary only: historical text, ceremonial, appreciate, ritual, law,                  shelter, wampum, Iroquois, nations, Haudenosaunee, sovereign, Hoyane, Gustoweh.
    
         

Tuesday October 4
             Second grade: Reading quiz on Main idea , supporting details and reading comprehension.
             Third grade: social studies: continents, oceans, geography and all the landforms in                           notebook.

Friday October 7
             Second grade: Social Studies quiz on maps.
             Fourth grade: Social studies: Notes from 9/21 - more to be added.

           



                        

LESSON PLANS




HOMEWORK FOR SEPTEMBER 26, 2016

SECOND GRADE:

-Make sure Questions for  summer reading books are given in. Many are still missing. If you are not done with both, you must at least have Poppleton in Winter  completed.
-Social Studies:Complete page 62 from your Living in Communities textbook, section A numbers 1,2,6,7, and 8 ONLY. Write the number, the word and then the letter answer. Then do page 63 section B number 3 ONLY, Copy question and answer.  All on looseleaf. 

THIRD GRADE:

-Social Studies:Define the following words in your social studies notebook using your social studies textbook; geography, mountain range,  plain, desert, river, and lake. 



FOURTH GRADE:

-Social Studies: Page 28 from social studies textbook.-Go under Think and Write and do the questions under "Writing an Explanation". Answer this on looseleaf in sentence form using evidence from the textbook.
