REMINDERS, LESSON PLANS, HOMEWORK AND VOCABULARY WORDS FOR WEEK OF MAY 8-12

REMINDERS


1.HOMEWORK SCHEDULE is as follow;
          Monday and Wednesday : Mrs. Bagley and Mr. Badia
          Tuesday and Thursday : Ms. Saville


2. VOCABULARY WORDS - Words are given in class with definition, but they could be found in the links at the end of this post, in case any student has missed the words.


3.MATERIALS: ALL students need at least 3 sharpened pencils. If they have mechanical pencils, then they need to bring their own lead. 


4.Map of the Month: There are 3 more maps left for the school year. The first of three was given on Friday April 28 and it is due May 12. Then the next one will be due May 26 and the final one June 15th. 

5.UPCOMING EVENTS:

-NYSELAT will be given on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week. 
-Half day on May 22 and May 26
-No school on May 29


6.Scholastic books: Flyers will be sent home periodically for students/parents to order books that they want. If any of the books we will need during the year are listed there I would ask for that book specifically. Otherwise it is a personal choice if you want to order. If you want to order books outside of the time I place  orders you can CLICK HERE TO BE DIRECTED TO SCHOLASTIC WEBSITE and then click on yellow section to connect with teacher and enter class code: LJ8KK. QUIZZES: 
3rd grade reading quiz based on the module so far, on Friday May 12, 2017.
4th grade social studies quiz (re-quiz of last weeks quiz, you can go on Google classroom and see the feedback I gave you).


8. Students in third and fourth grade have been using Google Classroom very often, please help them remember their username and password. Login information should also be written at home in a safe places along with the login information for Achieve, IXL and I-ready. Although second grade is only using this sometimes, they also have usernames and passwords.

Username:first initial last name @olqmnyc.org. Example; John Smith would be jsmith@olqmnyc.org

Passwords: everyone's password was set to olqmnyc1, but it might be different if your child changed it.

9.ACTION PLAN: Students with action plans need to continue working on the lessons, There are 4 lessons to be completed each week. The lessons are being checked on Monday morning for completion. By May 8, students should have had 16 lessons completed.

Third grade:
-Using science book pages 172-174 answer the following questions on looseleaf.
1-What is magnetism?
2-What happens when the south poles of two magnets are placed near each other others?

Fourth grade:
-Using the social studies textbook read pages 166-173 and answer the following question on looseleaf:
1. Suppose you are taking a trip on a steamboat or a canal boar in 1825. Write a letter to your family describing your trip.





HOMEWORK FOR MAY 10,2017

Second grade:
Go onto Achieve 3000 and choose any article you want to read and complete the article and activity. If you don't see an article you want to read on the home page, you can search for a topic you are interested in.


Third grade:
Go onto Achieve 3000 and choose any article you want to read and complete the article and activity. If you don't see an article you want to read on the home page, you can search for a topic you are interested in.


Fourth grade:
-Go onto Google classroom and check over your quiz from last week. Make sure you read over the comments I made for the short responses. You will be re-quiz on this material this week on Friday May 12.

-Go onto Google classroom and answer the question posted. You may use your old social studies book that you have at home.
