REMINDERS, HOMEWORK, VOCABULARY AND LESSON PLANS FOR WEEK OF FEBRUARY 17-20


REMINDERS

1. On Tuesday students in grade 2 can dress up as a Superkid from the reading program. Above is a picture of them. 

2. Grades 3 and up can dress up as a hippie.

HOMEWORK FOR FEBRUARY 18, 2015

-SECOND GRADE
Log onto IXL: CLICK HERE FOR LINK TO IXL and enter username and password. You are to complete section D D. 1- Identify homophones
-Log on for 20 minutes and weather you have master the lesson or not log on after the twenty minutes. I will be able to check how long you were logged on and what you did. I will check for this Friday night.

-THIRD GRADE
Log onto IXL: CLICK HERE FOR LINK TO IXL and enter username and password. You are to complete section M M.1- Which definition matches the sentence?
-Log on for 20 minutes and weather you have master the lesson or not log on after the twenty minutes.I will be able to check how long you were logged on and what you did. I will check for this Friday night.



-FOURTH GRADE
Make sure that you read pages 142-147 and answer questions #1-4 on page 147. Sentence form , do not write the questions.
-Finish the 2 paragraph essay on the American Revolution use text details. Complete this on notebook.
ALL of this will be checked on Friday.
*FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS WILL BE READING BECAUSE OF WINN DIXIE , DUE TO THE PAGE SET UP FOR EBOOKS AND THE FACT THAT NOT ALL STUDENTS WOULD HAVE THE SAME DEVICE, I WOULD LIKE THE STUDENTS TO GET THE ACTUAL BOOK.  I WILL ORDER THE BOOK TO BE HERE WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS AFTER ORDERING. I AM ASKING FOR $6 AND HAVE EXTENDED THE DAT FOR MONDAY FEBRUARY 24. 



VOCABULARY WORDS 
-SECOND GRADE

READING

  1. vitriol: oil that can cause burns.
  2. warehouse: place to store products for later use or sales.
  3. beckoned: to signal someone with arm or hand to come closer.
  4. pry: to look closely at something
  5. quilt: a bed cover with stitched designs.

SOCIAL STUDIES
     1. homeland: native land
     2.  nomads: people who move around from place to place.
     3.  contributions: things that were given up for something else.
     4. ordeal: an experience or event that was difficult or did not go well.
     5. melting pot: mixing of different people from different places.
     6. ancestors:people who came before you in your family.
     7. Constitution:the system of laws and beliefs by which this country is made from.
     8.  Bill of Rights: a document that has the rights that people have by law in the Unites States.

READING
1. endurance:strenght
2. reservation: public land that has been set aside for a specific purpose.
3. boarding school: a school where children live away from home.
4. dormitory: a students house
5. manual: done by hands

SOCIAL STUDIES
1. Greece:country in southern Europe.
2. Athens: the capital of Greece
3. Abolish: to get rid of; to end
4. prime minister: the most important minister in the executive branch (presidential) of government.

-FOURTH GRADE

READING
1. lyric poem: a type of poetry that can express thoughts and feelings, often have stanzas and sometimes has rhyme.
2.annual: once a year.
3.self-effacing: someone who does not liek to call attention to him or herself.; modest, humble of shy.
