REMINDERS, LESSON PLANS, HOMEWORK AND VOCABULARY WORDS FOR WEEK OF MAY 16-20

REMINDERS


1.HOMEWORK SCHEDULE is as follow;
          Monday and Wednesday : Mrs. Bagley and Mr. Badia
          Tuesday and Thursday : Ms. Saville

2. VOCABULARY WORDS - Words will be given in  class with definition, some will be define for homework. Below are links for each grade vocabulary words for module 4. 


3.FOLDERS: folders with reading and social studies work from quarter 3 were sent home on Friday April 22. Please go through the folder with your child and save test and quizzes that will be helpful when studying for the final exams in June.


4.Map of the Month was given out on Monday April 25th and will be due May 18th. 


5.UPCOMING EVENTS: May 20th is half a day. 12 o'clock dismissal.


6.Scholastic books: If you ever want to order books for your child from scholastic outside of the time I place orders, you can use the following code; PK9XQ. This will have the book orders sent to school , also it helps us earn points /books for students to borrow.

7.Quizzes are being sent home so you may start organizing module 4 quizzes along with the past quizzes for final exams.

HOMEWORK FOR MAY 16 , 2016


SECOND GRADE:

1.Social Studies: Continue working on your social studies project: All About Taxes book.Create a book about taxes. The guideline is as follow.

A.Book cover: Include title and your name

B.Table of content: Page numbers and what the reader will find on that page. Every section should have their own page. The sections are listed below.

C.Included in your book ; what are taxes?, What kinds of taxes are there?, what do we do with taxes money collected at different levels of government (local ,state, national/federal)? , What are the steps taken to prepare for tax day? , fun facts about taxes. 

D.Along with the information in each section, include pictures to match the information. Use the notes in your notebook along with information you can research at home.

2.Review the following words for reading quiz tomorrow (meadow, strolled, and central message)


THIRD GRADE:

1. Work on the map of the month "Mexico and Central America" - due May 18 (Map was given to EVERYONE).

2.Review the following words for reading quiz tomorrow (source and global).

3.Reading Project using "The Stories Julian Tells"- more info. will  be given in class. Due May 24


FOURTH GRADE:


1.Work on the map of the month - due May 18 (EVERYONE RECEIVED A MAP)

2.Review the following words for reading quiz tomorrow (unrest, in vain, influential, reluctantly, verdict, merely)

1.Review the following words for social studies  quiz tomorrow (historian, conflict)

2.Reading: Green book pages 140 and 141 (the short responses). Both should be 2-3 sentences using text evidence from the articles. We underline text details in class. 

THIRD GRADE:

1.Review the following words for social studies  quiz tomorrow (goal, hall of fame, adrift, glacier)

2.Social Studies:
A.Complete though question for "Blind Skier Gets the gold" and 
B.Complete though questions for "Water, Water Everywhere?"



FOURTH GRADE:


1.Social Studies:Reread pages 248-253 and answer questions #1-4 from page 253 on looseleaf in sentence form.

2.Review the following words for social studies  quiz on Monday May 23 (subway, Empire State Building, Great Depression, New Deal, ration, Allies, Axis Power, Eleanor Roosevelt, Mary McLeod Bethune, Franklin Roosevelt) )
