REMINDERS, LESSON PLANS, HOMEWORK AND VOCABULARY WORDS FOR WEEK OF OCTOBER 16-21

REMINDERS


1.HOMEWORK SCHEDULE is as follow;
          Monday and Wednesday : Mrs. Bagley and Mr. Badia
          Tuesday and Thursday : Ms. Saville

2. VOCABULARY WORDS - Words are given in class with definition, some will be define for homework. As we add reading and social studies words, they will be added to the links below. Check out the link s below.


3.MATERIALS: Some second grade students are still missing notebooks. Please make sure your child has 6 different notebooks. 


4.Map of the Month  are for  third and fourth grade only.  


5.UPCOMING EVENTS:Half a day on October 21.


6.Scholastic books: Flyers will be sent home periodically for students/parents to order books that they want. If any of the books we will need during the year are listed there I would ask for that book specifically. Otherwise it is a personal choice if you want to order. 7.GYM is on Tuesday's for Third grade and Friday for Second grade. 


8.EXTENDED DAY: Monday -4th grade with Mr.Pacido(math)
                                   Wednesday-4th grade with me (reading)
                                   Wednesday -3rd grade with Mr.Badia (math)
                                   Thursday -3rd grade with me (reading)



9. QUIZZES: 
Monday October 17th 
4th grade: Review chapter one from Social Studies 

Friday October 21th 
4th grade : Review reading vocabulary words:historical text, ceremonial, appreciate, ritual, law, shelter, wampum, Iroquois, nations, Haudenosaunee, sovereign, Hoyane, Gustoweh, central idea, gist, delegation and ,  covenant.
3rd grade: Review reading vocabulary words and using the RAPP method to answer question; notice, norms, record, motivation, detail, evidence, rumpled, sapling, slump, and informative. 
2nd grade: Review reading words: rain forest, habitat, main idea, supporting details, expert, college, and mound. 

Monday October 24
2nd grade: Review social studies notes on maps and review how to read a map using the textbook. Also review rules and laws.
3rd grade: Review social studies notes on Mexico's geography and climate. Also vocabulary words: Hispanic country, inexpensive, passenger, land formation, rain forest and climate.  

Friday October 28
3rd grade:Reading vocabulary words; flourish, Taliban, close reading, frantic, Allah, dialect, Appalachian, rural, and excerpt.
    
         



LESSON PLANS

HOMEWORK FOR OCTOBER 17, 2016

SECOND GRADE: 
Social Studies: Read pages 64-65 from the social studies book "Living in Communities" and answer the questions from section C- Practicing the Skill. Do this on looseleaf with full heading. Answers only. 

THIRD GRADE:
Social Studies: Though questions for Achieve 3000 article " Mexico Stomps Bugs".Complete on Achieve 3000 program.

HOMEWORK FOR OCTOBER 19, 2016

SECOND GRADE: 
Reading: Complete page 36 from the Ready NY book. This is due Tomorrow. Students write in the book. 

Social Studies: Complete the activity for "Mapping Out the Future"on Achieve 3000, IF you did not finish in class. Students have their user name and password in their homework folder. Website: portal.achieve3000.com- Due Tomorrow.

Social Studies: Complete the Though Question for "Mapping out the Future"on Achieve 3000. This is to be completed on Achieve and it is DUE SUNDAY by 7 AM.Students have their user name and password in their homework folder. Website: portal.achieve3000.com- 

THIRD GRADE:
Reading:  Complete the SIWBS chart for the story Nasreen Secret School. Bring back the sheet and the story back to school. If you do not return the story back to school, your homework will deducted points.

Social Studies: Copy notes into social studies notebook. The notes can be found in the link found below after the vocabulary words. 

FOURTH GRADE:
Reading:

Social Studies:Complete the sheet "What Happened When?"
